Annual Wo-Zha-Wa Days Fall Festival, Downtown Dells Shopping District in Wisconsin Dells, WI
This annual community festival was started more than forty years ago, and is still growing and going strong after all this time. The festival is named for the Ho-Chunk phrase which means 'to have fun', and marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall. Fun, however, is an understatement.
The entire downtown area of Wisconsin Dells is transformed to accommodate the festival's main attraction, the annual Wo-Zha-Wa parade, a large parade with more than one-hundred entries and various forms of live entertainment. In addition to the parade, there is more shopping to do than at any other time of the year.
Select from hand-crafted wares, antiques, and a collection of art work, all unique to the venders who sell them. There are carnival rides, foot stands, sidewalk sales offered by the local retailers, and with an annual attendance rate of over 100,000 there is a lot to choose from. It's a bargain-hunter's paradise for sure.
The Annual Wo-Zha-Wa Days Festival is the largest and longest-running festival of its kind in Dells Wisconsin. More than 200 artisans, vendors and retailers offer patrons of the festival the chance to purchase mementos, and other goods at prices to die for. And, then there's the food.
There are dozens of food booths offering a variety of cuisines. The smells are irresistible and the tastes are mouth-watering. There are also a number of beer tents to buy ice-cold beer and other beverages at.
With all of this to experience, it would be a shame to miss this festival so make plans to stop in and see all there is to see, taste all there is to taste, and pick-up a few things you've always wanted at the best prices around before you leave.
