Visiting Bavarian Village in Wisconsin Dells, is like going to Germany - without the hassel of flying to Europe or changing currency! The Bavarian Village is a delightful Bavarian village complete with town square and Glockenspiel, set right in the middle of downtown Wisconsin Dells.
The village features the half-timbered houses and thatched roofs that you would expect from any small Bavarian town. Make sure you catch the re-enactment of the fairy story of "The
Pied Piper of Hamelin". Actors take the parts to recreate the famous story, of The Pied Piper who steals all the children of Hamelin away by making them dance behind as he plays his flute. The Piper was angry because he'd not been paid for his job as a rat-catcher. The story may or may not be true but catch the delightful recreation of it as a free show in the village square.
The Bavarian Village features specialty shops and restaurants which show case the food and produce of the southern Germany region. This is the place to shop for cuckoo clocks, fancy embroidery and of course German beer. The gift shops will give the lover of all things German many options for their vacation shopping. Don't forget to check out the local restaurants for lunch or dinner. Many of them feature tradition German dishes such as sauerkraut, German wursts (sausages) and apple strudel as well. The Bavarian Village offers heaps of fun and entertainment for the whole family.
The Bavarian Village, is located north of Veterans Park, near Bowman Park on Broadway in downtown Wisconsin. Its open daily from 10am to 6pm.
