Canyon Creek Riding Stable near Wisconsin Dells, WI
At Canyon Creek Riding Stables near Wisconsin Dells the family can get saddled up and go on a one hour guided trail ride tour. Along the trail visitors take in a great variety of natural scenery from wildflowers to centuries old rock formations and waterfalls. During the trail ride you also pass through the stunning Lost Canyon area and a 200ft tunnel. Most of the trail ride takes place in the woods, but it also passes through a touristy ghost town section with tombstones and various ponds: you may even spot a horse-drawn carriage.
The horses at Canyon Creek Riding Stables are tame and very good for even first time riders. The guides constantly check on riders to ensure they are doing well with managing their horse, but it is important to note that the trail ride is not appropriate for very small children. Getting on and off the horses is made easier for novices using the 3ft mounting platforms at the stables. Once the rider is up on the horse, the stable hands help adjust the stirrups to the correct length for the rider.
The stables are open from 9am to 7pm during the season and trail; rides depart every 15 minutes. After finishing the trail ride the kids will enjoy a visit to the petting zoo at the stables. The stables are located at half a mile North of I90 near Exit 92 on Hillman Rd. between the Wilderness Resort and Great Wolf Lodge. The trail ride is a fun family experience for older children and adults.
